What else is important to us? We don't ever throw our lives away, but we can give those up first. And you know it.

...What about the past? They're good memories, but we don't need them; we can build something new.

It wasn't a good memory. I got to see Noel and Mog and Vanille, but it was awful. Seeing what happened or could have happened was pretty bad.

...Mm. Then they probably want you to keep that one.

[tightening and loosening her grip, unsure] . . . What about injuries? Not dying, not losing something, but something painful.

...I don't like thinking of you hurt.

Me neither. But it's better than you dying, and I can heal us. Nessa and Apple can help with the rest. Or Ven. Or anyone, really.

...Why would they accept hurting us, when what they want is to kill us.

No, Lightning. They don't want to kill us. They want to punish us, for being close and for depending on each other.

We can give them the chance, let them try, and it will hurt. But they can't take away the fact that we're going to stick together.
