Okay, game on! Question meme for Vincent Nightray, Serah Farron, Persephone, and Dream! I reserve the right to tilde at you when it comes to either of my personae, though moreso with Dream.
Hmm, it's evolving! When he first arrived, she didn't know too much about him, and they never had the chance to get to know each other better. Then, there was the game with Mother then Nimue where it was really exposing on both sides . . . Serah isn't too sure where she stands with Battler. She puts a lot of trust and faith in him, so she lets herself be more active than she usually is with others. Still, she isn't sure if he wants or needs that kind of check from someone else, and she is worried that she might be overstepping herself by thinking that she can act like that with him. — Mm, Serah is really tentative about being open with other people. When she knows she can, she will speak her mind. But when she isn't sure, she may shut down completely.
Right now, she is figuring out where how he feels, gauging how much she should check herself with him, and the like, but she doesn't feel like they have a bad relationship? She can appreciate that he's a little hot-headed, a little quick to jump to something, but he's also a good guy when it counts.
tell me all about the progression of Vincent's Thoughts On Kamui and how it's changed from when Kamui arrived to the last time we threaded? (AKA RELATIONSHIP ME)
Also, thread with me again :( I got you your wine and pillows
Aww, man, you're asking for me to remember a lot there . . . Umm, I can try!!
So, like I said, Vincent was a bit closed off when it came to new Iolites. He's learned from past experiences to let them sit down and settle themselves without any influence before he starts to figure out where they fit into the team. He took advantage of Spitfire when he first arrived and that blew up spectacularly. Then, Hibari was always a conscious threat . . . Once burned, twice shy!
In this way, Vincent ended up being rather wary of Kamui. He already proved that his personality was still highly malleable by shifting from vitriolic to something altogether more passive. (And Vincent can appreciate the need to put on airs, more on that later.) Still, without trying, Kamui managed to win Vincent over by being such a genuinely thoughtful and caring person, someone who loved without reservation or a thought to his own well-being. Vincent is an asshole who will use that sort of behavior without any regard, and he has already thought of it!, but he is also endeared by people who can be caring towards someone else, especially when they have the force of experience that does make them wary of getting slighted.
Noteee: Obsidian came to Aather and was wary, then he was won over by Yuta giving him his name and Vincent offering him food. Then, he was completely smitten with his team. So, the parallels were rather strong there. And considering how strongly Vincent feels towards Obsidian, any parallels with him is a marked favor . . .
T-The game with Mother only compounded it all. While Vincent loathes Mother, the timing of that game worked completely in Kamui's favor. There are a lot of factors involved, but the gist is: 1. Vincent was mad that Yuri went to the game, so he was feeling slighted in that regard which meant he pulled for something else to focus into. Ta-da, there were new Iolites~! 2. It strongly established the relationship between Vincent as having power and Kamui being a less able and capable member. Not that Kamui hasn't done make that point strongly on his own, but having it put into clear perspective like that makes Vincent more comfortable to initiate a relationship. He likes his dominance, okay.
So, the shift was marked! Vincent has been reeling back his more questionable behaviors because of a tussle with Gil, but he was more physically affectionate, open and comforting to Kamui without reservation. He doesn't talk in games or confusing pattens as much, while being more patient and likely to explain in an understandable manner. If Vincent gives Kamui any more favors, it will likely be where he uses Kamui and his logic as a place to touch ground with like he does Obsidian . . . But that may be some time coming. Still, Kamui ranks pretty high in Vincent's list, atm.
AND THAT IS TEAM WINE . . . Vincent can get booze whenever he wants, cough. And pillows. ////////
awww vince <3 hooboy THIS IS GOING TO BE DIFFICULT (mostly because I don't quite get it either but) let me try...
okay so kamui started off with nothing except the memory that people are trying to kill him and obviously that is bad. so he was angry and terrified when he arrived and also, DRAGON. He doesn't really have strong impressions of that first day because...it was a lot of people and there was a monster and a dragon and everyone might be trying to kill him and he can't remember jack shit... But he does remember that Vincent used Common Sense on him and that he was very comfortable with the dragon, which helped him a surprising amount get over how uncomfortable he is with Obsidian.
But then as he settled, he grew into putting his trust in Iolite (+fuuma) since they're what surrounds him and that's...good. comforting. what he knows. And of Iolite, he's most comfortable with Neji and Vincent-Obsidian (THEY'RE KIND OF A UNIT OKAY) because they seem to be the least...idk how to put it. They don't really make a big deal out of him being new(ish) and they're pretty stable existences, which is what he needs. Steady, I guess, is the word I'm looking for. That's what keeps Kamui most comfortable, so he tends to gravitate towards them. He does enjoy Spitfire and Jaina's enthusiasm and appreciates their care and how they seem to, almost?, make an effort to include him and know how he's been doing and helping him, but they can be too...happy? for him.
And then with Mother's game, Vincent was, again, a steady influence and a comforting presence and was just always calm, which helped keep Kamui calm. And, honestly? Kamui thinks Vincent was more than kind to do what he did during the game, since...his own ideas were a whole lot more violent. So that made Kamui respect Vincent even more. And also Vincent didn't really make a big deal out of his little breakdown when he remembered his mom dying, so. That's also a plus, since someone else being emotional would've just fed into his own and he prefers being calm since the only extreme emotions he really remembers feeling (after growing up) are negative ones: anger and fear, primarily, along with adrenaline and a strong desire to hurt someone.
I think Kamui is afraid of himself, in some ways. Huh. I DIDN'T THINK OF THAT BEFORE.
Neji and Vincent had a talk about Fuuma and Kamui, so they are aware that he's from the same place . . . Mm, and the relationship might be ~rather complicated~ if Ruby's tendency to bundle is to be believed . . . Which it is. They show their biases so easily.
okay so they've uh. they've kissed twice. the first time was due to the memory-sharing mistletoe: kamui moved to kiss fuuma on the cheek and he turned to catch lips. second time was while kamui was trying to fulfill his quest and fuuma randomly kissed him. :X
Dream kind of likes Hikaru . . . Because he's so quick to say what he wants which works with Dream pretty well . . . . . . . '-' . . . Still, that favor can disappear pretty easily, which Dream isn't too aware of, but he can sort of feel it . . . Let me love you . . .
Hikaru is hilarious to Vincent~. They haven't really set the tone between them, so there is still a lot to be said . . . Still, Vincent can appreciate the position Hikaru is in and why Leo took to him which is interesting enough on its own. He's still deciding where to put him on the board.
And my memory is awful, so I am really hazy on Serah and Natsume, but it hasn't changed much . . . She's okay with him and likes him! But they aren't really tight yet, either.
Hikaru has always kind of wanted to punch Dream in the face from heart games and taking Corals so frequently, but in the end he always knew Dream wasn't evil. As he started to deal with personae like Mother and Jabberwock more frequently, it only became even more obvious. It doesn't mean he forgives Dream completely, mind you! He's stubborn and will always bully him no matter what, but at the same time, he knows that if a persona takes a person away, it's because of the darkness. Heart games exist because that gross heart of Dream's or whoever that is will run worse things if he doesn't (I think this is what he knows icly though my memory is foggy). It's not like I like you or anything but let me punch you in the face anyway!!!!1!
Vincent, you are a weirdo. '-' You are nothing like Elliot who is an even bigger weirdo. I don't know if he knows Gil is a bro or not, I forget. But Gil is also scandalous in his eyes so to Hikaru, it seems you are the most noble of the three brothers despite being weird.
:')
Still hasn't really made the connection that o hey maybe Leo knows Vincent and vice versa . . .
NATSUME LIKES SERAH because she is family that seems to like Lightning. For him, the idea of family is very precious and sometimes he is envious, but he really is happy that Lightning has someone that she likes so much. '^' There was something else but I forgot...
I can't do three, and I will be keeping Serah and Vincent for awhile yet. Really, I doubt that I will give up Vincent anytime even while I flounder with him at times . . .
Um, yes . . . Yes, he will . . . If anyone wants him. :|a Tho, Coral made notoriously good decisions with the start of this mini-plot that might make him edgy to visit anytime soon . . . . . . .
Spoilers, but you'll find out by next week that they were smart.
. . . okay i won't visit ._.a
Uhh, I am doing a throwback explora-dora game in the morning one of these days when I get some free time in my schedule. After that, not much. Except Masked Lady and Dream, ftw, I guess?!
SO HOW'S HIKARU DOING WITH LEO'S DIP OUT? Someone already asked, idc.
Oh, gosh, I have been really bad about tagging you, but I am enjoying their relationship! I have to say that before I get started, okay . . . ////
Anyway, Vincent thinks Lambda is a very lovely lady, of course~. He's always enjoyed her presence in the Cry Wolf games which definitely showed her colors in a flattering light to him. So, he does give her some credit as a person of reason and means . . . Still, he's been out of practice with people of that nature and his current persona/mask isn't equipped to deal with someone of that caliber, so he isn't as adept with her as he would like to be. Given time and his old persona, he may enjoy spending more time with her. Either way, he does appreciate her even when he isn't dealing with her himself.
Lambda finds Vincent quite charming ♥, and definitely interesting. His stunt in Kitsune's Cry Wolf game pretty much sealed her interest in him, because she honestly thought it was hilarious and was beyond amused; he seems like someone fun to play with. It's a little bit exciting for her, too, because it seems to hold the potential for a different flavor of interaction for her—it's something that lets her keep a little sharper than most of her existing relationships in Aather...
Blackmailing Echo, finished off a third run of Three's heart, mindfucked Gil and tried to get Oz to "help out" with that . . . So, pretty much all of the usual stuff. It was kind of fun to get Naoto to put his complete trust in Vincent for a bit there, because it was so tempting to just kill him . . . But he behaved himself. :(a
She's very different from her canon self, and while she's starting to mold into something a little more similar to her canon counterpart with recent memories, there's still a huge gap there. Their surface personalities/ways of presenting themselves are basically the same so her voice barely changes, but underneath there's a lot of differences.
The most obvious difference is that she's a lot... well, nicer! Lambda in canon is not exclusively malevolent, but she is casually sadistic and nasty and will enjoy terrible things as they come. Lambda in Aather so far, while she doesn't exactly get torn up about anything and she is now starting to redevelop a penchant for the dangerous or grotesque, she is generally a lot more sympathetic towards most people's suffering... She's entirely lacking in the experiences that made her so prone to cruelty, which allows for the underlying good traits she has in canon to instead take the forefront. You could say that she's sort of an inverse of her canon self—in canon she is flippant and mean-spirited with a core of genuine decency she occasionally lets show, while in Aather she is generally genial and considerate(... ish...), with her nasty side only slipping through if you flip the right switches.
She's also a lot more impressionable and a lot less self-assured—in canon she has a pretty strong sense of self-awareness and acceptance; her self-image and ideals and strong enough that there's very little that can shake her. But her lack of memories of course messes with that, so she's a little more unsteady on her feet in general. She also has a lot more walls lowered—more prone to viewing other people on a more even footing, and thus better at making genuine, mutual connections with people. There's probably other things, too, but those are the main ones that come to mind, I think...
Do you think Serah could have worked as a Hero? What teams do you think she would do well on if she were one?
Um, yes?! Gosh, Itachi has so many points in Serah's book right now. She was glad to have him there when she thought her situation with Lightning was really hopeless. It's complicated, but she knows that she can count on him which counts for a lot . . .
I say complicated, because that awkward feeling she gets around him hasn't gone away. She can't find where she stands with him, so it's easy to push herself when she knows she needs the help . . . But when that need isn't there, she worries about asking too much. Serah works on knowing how far she can go with someone, and Itachi is rather good at keeping all of that under his collar. So, it's hard for her to feel stable with him, and she doesn't want to ask for a confirmation in terms that she would understand because that would be asking a lot. She already feels bad about being, well, a teenage girl at him when that isn't everyone's cup of tea . . .
Still, she does put a lot of faith in him which counts for much more, though. Even knowing that Itachi could handle Lightning when she couldn't was plenty for Serah. She was confident enough in him and Emerald that she was at ease in that regard even when their relationship was rather in the air. And she was glad that he shared some of his background with her, showed that he understood their situation. She doesn't know if he felt obligated to, since she had pretty strongly exposed herself and Lightning, but . . . He wouldn't have if he didn't want to, so she values being trusted with that.
So, it's a bit confusing, but it's largely positive . . . S-Sibling club meeting will be great?! And reverse me.
Damn, I needed to think this one over, so good call . . . Just is a difficult person to really piece out where he "belongs"! Vincent can't figure out what "use" he serves, so he gets a little vexed on how to treat him and what to do with Just. That isn't to say that Vincent minds him, but it's hard to for him to really play the part when he isn't sure what part exactly he should be playing. So, Vincent gets a little wishy-washy around Just; his blade isn't sharp and on point, basically.
See, he appreciates the nature of Just's character. Like I've said before, they could form a great working relationship! But Vincent is shy to really lean on anyone after dealing with Echo and Leo who were less than exemplary right-hand people. He prefers to rely on himself and that has only been solidified with experience. Still, it's a waste to not keep him around for that ~particular occasion~ when Just would be the right tool for the job. They have a good understanding of each other which makes thing everything easier, rather than another piece that Vincent would have to work over in another manner . . .
On the other hand, Just is a calculated risk. Just will get himself into trouble; Vincent knows from a mile away that Just will do something stupid at some point. It's just how Aather and people of his caliber work! So, he wants to keep an appropriate distance from that incident. He doesn't want to be involved, nor does he want people coming at him like, "Why didn't you prevent this from happening if you knew?!" Not that many people would, but Vincent plans for all eventualities . . . He likes to lead an easy life, okay. :'( Even hanging around Just, Vincent knows that will act as a huge tip-off on himself to people who keep a close watch on him, simply because Vincent around anyone is suspicious.
So, yes, Just is a hard character to slot in, and Vincent won't get on the ball with him, per se. But I am going to mull over the potential uses of him after this shower. I've been on a good evil plotting kick, so I might be able to figure out whether Vincent has something for him . . . Or if he'll keep his cards to his vest and play the established game already.
Hit me back, and did I finish that quest? I did, didn't I? Do you remember what it was for . . . ?
★ Vincent is slowly realizing that Oz will take Gilbert from him, and he's walking the fine line between being alright with that . . . And punching Oz in the goddamn mouth. ♥ At first, Vincent suspected that Oz might have Gilbert's best intentions at heart when it came to Vincent, so they shared the same relationship from a distance. The fact that they can't draw a line between them and make Gilbert choose one or the other. However, the last thread really highlighted for Vincent that Oz didn't feel that way! And if he had, then his feelings had certainly changed on the matter. In all likelihood, Vincent will back off long before the situation would ever escalate that far, because he loves Gilbert too much to make it happen. Still, Oz is a fucker, and Vincent is starting to foster a true, well-founded hatred for him.
★ Persephone doesn't have any deep feelings for Flynn. He's useful, nice, and sweet! She's rather unabashedly alright with using people who seem willing to go the whole nature route with her, and he seems to be alright with doing the work. So, it's a good working relationship.
★ Serah appreciates Flynn a little more now. She understands why people get riled up about him, but she also gets that he is trying to do what he thinks is best in his own way. It's not a hard situation to understand for her. Still, she doesn't feel comfortable or secure in herself with him, so she keeps up a certain barrier. It's not out of dislike or anything like that, Serah just has trouble feeling being open with people without knowing where she stands. And Flynn sort of bulldozes on his way without needing that much support, so she's happy to let him go and do his own thing.
> Oz thinks Vincent is incredibly dumb!! He's kind of very much aware that Vincent has a lot of self loathing going on and he's very :/ on it because of how it impacts Gil. Honestly, he doesn't want to take Vincent away from Gil, he doesn't think it's the best thing for either of them, which is why he actively told Gil that he Could Not Hurt Vincent way back when he returned. He's still of that mind but he also isn't afraid of being a dick to Vincent when he thinks that he's being stupid. The whole fiasco with the memory was mostly because Oz was thinking "um, wow Vincent maybe if you showed this to your brother you could sort your shit out." And since Vincent's never shown any delicacy or concern for Oz's issue and actively tries to use scare tactics on him he's responded in like.
He wants them to talk their shit out, he wants Vincent and Gil's issues to be resolved for Gil's benefit, and really above all else he sort of pities Vincent for being as messed up as he is, but he's not going to play nice with him because he knows that's going to go nowhere. Oz is also pretty okay on this footing because he's talked with Gil, and Gil knows that he and Vincent Do Not get along, but that Oz still supports Gil for what he has with Vincent. Because of this he doesn't really feel like it's necessary to wear kid gloves of any sort when dealing with Vincent. He's also aware that it's not his place to help their issues sort, though, which is why he will not actively go after Vincent for anything. The thing with the memory was entirely because Vincent called him out, and he was ruffled by it so he gave as good as he got. He's probably going to try to prompt Gil to take his memories and to talk to Vincent about the past but that's as far as he's going with that issue unless Vincent provokes him more.
> Flynn thinks Persephone is a very nice ladypersona and it's quite fortunate to have someone within t he realm who's so focused on plant life and nature giving back to the people and justice the end. He likes her, she is definitely one of the gentler and more kind personae that he can really respect.
> Flynn does sort of recognize the slight bit of tension that there is between himself and Serah. He doesn't want to try to push it since that would be impolite!! but she is a knight who strikes him as being a very kind and considerate person so he'd like to get to know her better and do what he can to support her. In some ways, she's sort of part of an effort on his part to approach people more as friends and less as comrades. Basically, he doesn't always feel quite that he knows what to do around her but he does want to try to get along and get to know her better, if it's something that she's comfortable with.
Hmm, Vincent has been forced to rely on her more heavily than he would really care to. The situation in his social circle has changed so much that she fulfills a certain obligation which is incredibly distasteful. Still, he won't burn that bridge again, and he learned to reign himself in . . . So, they work together and share a cup of tea together every now and then. The only charming point is that he doesn't have to bend his knee to her any more than he would like to, because she doesn't have the upper hand in their relationship. They are rather even which is something Vincent values to no end.

Do you remember what it was for . . . ?

And reverse.
